“If you are the luckiest 1% of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99%.”

Chartered Accountants are the 1% of humanity who through their hard work and determination have risen to the top in society and the profession. We are not only guardians of capital but also givers of aid to society at large.

Mega Blood Donation Camps

Serving mankind takes many forms and you don’t have to be a doctor to save lives. Understanding the need of the hour, I am proud to say that our members and students responded with great enthusiasm and collected 429 bottles of blood during the course of these camps at Malad, Saki Naka and Khar. I am grateful to all the blood donors for this gift of life and I thank past Chairman of WIRC, CA. Sunil Patodia for all his support.

Flood Relief Program

The world is aware of the destructive effects of floods in Chiplun, Maharashtra. In an effort to help those affected by the recent floods, WIRC distributed flood relief kits, including dry rations and water to families in the rain-affected areas of Chiplun. We thank the members who generously donated towards this charitable act.

MahaRERA Representation

In line with our goal of forging closer ties with regulators as well as providing relevant insights from our professional perspective, WIRC made a representation on MahaRERA to Mr. Ajoy Mehta, Chairman, MahaRERA, and Dr. Vasant Prabhu, Secretary, MahaRERA. Our representation was well received at this highest level of the RERA State body and we look forward to further relevant discussions in the near future.

Outsourcing Services - Australia

Recently, ICAI signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement with CPA Australia with regards to outsourcing services. To that end, there was an insightful discussion with respect to current demands and future trends towards outsourcing of Tax and Accounting work from Australia. We look forward to taking this forward to open up more opportunities for our members.

Rank Holders Felicitation

WIRC was pleased to felicitate the ranking students of the Region in the presence of our esteemed ICAI President, CA. Nihar N. Jambusaria who motivated the students in attendance with an inspiring speech on their bright career prospects.

Independence Day Celebrations

The Flag hoisting function on the occasion of Independence Day was held with great ceremony in the presence of Chief Guest CA. Prafulla Chhajed, Past President ICAI with Guest of Honour, Shri Suresh Khatanhar, DMD, IDBI Bank. We hoisted our flag and remembered our freedom fighters who sacrificed themselves for our freedom.

Support by Hon'ble Shri. Uday Samant, Minister of Higher & Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra

Office Bearers while visiting Ratnagiri were honoured with a visit by the esteemed Minister. In support of our activities, he stated that for the first time in India, the Maharashtra Government is planning to implement a policy to ensure that largest number of students are enrolled into the Chartered Accountancy course.

Sub Regional Conference at Goa

The WIRC Sub Regional at Goa hosted by the Goa Branch was an excellent knowledge deep dive for participating members. We were also honoured by the presence of Shri. Mauvin Godinho, Hon'ble Minister for Transport & Panchayat, Government of Goa who announced that the Goa Government will soon float the tender for conversion of single entry to double entry system for Panchayat and preference will be given to local CA firms. Attendees were gratified by this announcement and his presence.

WIRC Office Bearers interacted with Hon’ble Shri Nilesh Cabral, Minister of Power, Government of Goa and informed him about the construction of the new Branch Office of the Goa Branch of WIRC. On being informed that solar power panels were going to be installed in this construction, he stated that the new Goa Branch of WIRC would get 50% subsidy for this initiative. WIRC is thankful to the Hon’ble Minister for his support to the Institute and the profession.

Publication Release

Our knowledge banks have been enriched greatly with the publishing of 16 publications in the last six months. These insightful and practical books authored by our own erudite members are truly helpful to the profession at large. I urge all members and students to take full advantage of these publications.

As we celebrate 75 years of Independence, let us reflect how we can contribute to the growth of the Nation and while contemplating remember the words of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, “I will keep the lamp of knowledge burning to achieve the vision of Developed India.”

While India is slowly opening up from lockdowns, let us continue to maintain hygiene and good health by continuing to wear masks and ensure social distancing. Stay safe, stay healthy.

Chairman
